2016 in review

2016 has been one hell of a year. I've witnessed tremendous growth in virtually all areas of my life. When I started this year I was so scared because  a lot of things were out of place. I stepped into the year knowing that I would only survive by God's grace and I did. So here are some of them.

My Familiar Scars

I played a lot as a kid and still do. This implies that I have a lot of scars. Scars from falls, sharp object and having scabies as a child. So when I got into the University and saw my colleaques with supple, clear and spot free skin I got insecured a bit. The self consciousness was top notch. I'd say to my friend or tailor "the dress should be a little bit longer, I need to cover this scar" " I can't wear this na, my skin is not that fine" "let the skirt cover my knee please I have scars there"

6 things you shouldn’t let slide in a relationship

I'm a big believer in forgiveness, and not just because I make a lot of mistakes. But because it's good for you and for your relationship if you're able to work things out and move past them. But there are some things you can't let slide in a relationship. Ever.

When you let certain things slide, it sends silent messages about the behavior you're willing to accept and the ways people are allowed to treat you. Letting bad behaviors slide isn't a way to be nice, or kind, or forgiving. It means you're not setting boundaries. It means you're taking crap from others for the sake of keeping the peace. It can also mean bigger things, like a lack of self-esteem, or poor communication skills, which are important to address as well.

John Doe :Hello please is this bread sweet? (this unknown dude said to me as I settled to take my seat beside him on my way to Benin recently)
Me: I don't know
John Doe : you are forming you don't eat bread abi?
Me: I said I don't know. I have never bought bread in onitsha before.
John Doe : ok. I wanted to buy bread for my wife and mother in law.
So I started feeling guilty and suggested he gets some snacks from a fast food in Benin. But the dude insisted he wanted travellers bread. I said ok.  So I asked if he was married because he looked so young then he replied

Ditch that List

A couple of weeks ago, I was having an online conversation with a friend about “the list”. You know, the list almost every teenage/young adult girl makes about things her future husband needs to be—tall, a tongue talking, demon chasing Christian, loves kids, financially stable , humorous, will take her out for ice cream etc. Two things i recall from my list is that future hubby should be
1. Incurably romantic
2. Goes after me with the right trappings in place. Lolz

Old But Gold - Why Every Christian Should See War Room

I am a Christian, an actor in Hollywood, an African American woman, beach dweller, and dog owner, if that matters. I really loved the movie War Room, and not just because it has turned me into a scripture copying, 24/7 praying fool these days, and not because it’s good “for a Christian movie,” or because it is box office gold, which really means something “in this town,” but for a few other reasons that surprised even jaded old me! - Karen Bankhead
